Tooth Whitening

Is is safe?

• Nearly all forms of tooth whitening is safe.  However, there can be some side effects during the bleaching process.  Sensitivity to cold and sensitive gums are common occurrences.  However, if more than just discomfort occurs, please call your dentist.

How long does it last?

• Generally the results will last three to four months at which time periodic maintenance bleaching will need to be performed.  This will help maintain the bright, white smile you have achieved.

Veneers

What is the advantage of doing veneers?

• This can provide changes in the appearance of your teeth in both shape and color.  More of your actual tooth will be preserved, when compared to other dental options, which will be less traumatic to your tooth.  The color of veneers will last longer than what is achieved in bleaching. 

Will I be able to choose the color and shape of my teeth?

• The color can be chosen by you from a variety of choices.  Dr. Donahue will assist you in making the most natural of color choices.
• The shape will be determined using models of your existing teeth.  This will allow both you and Dr. Donahue to create both an improved smile, while still maintaining a natural look.
